A unique woodland getaway in the wilderness of Bute Forest!
Located in the stunning community-owned Bute Forest, at the northern end of the Isle of Bute, our two off-grid huts offer a unique woodland getaway. Thoughtfully designed to sit sympathetically in the woodland landscape with minimal impact on the local environment, they allow visitors to fully immerse themselves in the beautiful natural surroundings and escape the pressures of modern life. 'The Charcoal Huts' evoke the early charcoal burner settlements historically found in this area. The paths surrounding the huts are the very same ones used by the forest's inhabitants and today still connect to the West Island Way and beyond.
Nestled in the birch woodland, the huts have stunning views of the Kyles of Bute and are just a short walk away from a secluded and private stretch of coastline. Each off-grid hut comfortably sleeps two adults and two small children (under 12) and has been designed with quality fixtures and fittings, including cosy woodburning stoves and private composting toilet facilities. There is also a communal firepit and picnic area. As a community enterprise, all profits from The Charcoal Huts will be reinvested in the Bute ForestForest'sement and nature conservation activities. So, your stay with us will make a real difference to the local environment and community!
