The Hayshed Gallery is a space for exhibiting textiles and ceramics made at Carry Farm by a family of award winning and contemporary artists and makers. Fiona works the land at Carry Farm and her Hebridean sheep provide the yarn for hand crafting products with an enviable provenance and colourful modern designs. Hebridean sheepskins are organically tanned by using a centuries old technique. The process of shepherding the sheep, shearing and transforming the fleece into textiles, results in unique products rooted to Carry Farm. Drey workshop squirrel away next door to the gallery, crafting distinctive pieces for the home combining their skills in ceramics and wood. Karen (Fiona’s sister) and her husband Gregor, ensure the gallery is stocked with some really beautiful and tactile pieces for the home. Finally, the youngest maker, Eve Campbell graduated in Textile Design from The Glasgow School of Art in 2018 before setting up a small print studio at Carry Farm. From here she creates textiles, interpreting nature in abstract form for homes and spaces. The gallery is open 7 days a week from Easter to October. If you are travelling a distance we always suggest you drop us a message, just in case we are out shepherding or sailing when you arrive.
