HIGHLAND FOLD GARDEN & BARN ICE CREAM EXPERIENCE
The passion behind Highland Fold Ice Cream, is making the best, most natural, sustainable and ethical ice cream we possibly can and serving it with delicious home-made accompaniments which explore and showcase the wonderful produce found in this corner of Argyll.
Our home is on Achinreir Farm, on the outskirts of Barcaldine village on the south shore of Loch Creran in the beautiful area of North Lorn.
The farm is made up mostly of pasture and woodland providing ideal natural foraging and shelter for Highland cattle. These hardy native cows have a very high butter fat content in their milk, making it perfect for ice cream.
Our ice cream and accompanying puddings, bakes and toppings are all made from scratch here on the farm. Our team of ice cream makers and bakers continuously add exciting new flavours to increase our range of seasonal, local ingredients, many of which we grow or forage or are gathered by neighbours and friends.
Our signature ice cream the ‘Highlander’; is made with milk from the Highland Cows that live here on the farm; it’s a delicious gelato style ice cream with delicate flavours found or grown on the farm.
Our ‘Natural Flavours’ ice cream is made with Scottish organic milk which we buy in. We create a wide range of flavours from local berries to ethically sourced coffee and chocolate.
We are especially proud of our vibrant non-dairy ‘Fruit Sorbets’ made with freshly prepared fruit and herbs many of which are grown on the farm or close to home.
A visit to Highland Fold Garden & Barn is a truly unique experience; after a short walk through the farm, you can enjoy delicious ice cream, coffee, puddings, bakes, speciality teas and home-made cordials in the beautiful surroundings of our converted barn and peaceful garden spaces.
You may even catch a glimpse of some of the farm’s Highland Cows.
We have a small local creatives gallery in one of the old steading buildings, displaying some of the beautiful hand-crafts and art works made by people in our community.
