Hop on the Scotrail Highland Explorer with your bike and backpack, for a solo adventure or with friends and family to start a Rail & Trail adventure across Argyll & the Isles - Scotland's Adventure Coast.
The adventure carriages on the Glasgow Queen Street to Oban line are designated for carrying bikes and large sporting equipment.
Each carriage has a total of 20 individual bike racks, as well as designated seating for 24 people. The active travel carriages include space for tandem cycles, kids bikes, and e-bikes. And plenty of storage for your bags and kit too!
Get your road bike, gravel bike or mountain bike packed up, securely loaded on board and off you go, without the stress of driving and parking. Why not bring along your inflatable paddleboard too and have a pedal and paddle?
There's lots to explore whether you choose to pedal or paddle, all year round
Leaving from Queen St Station in Glasgow, you can access beautiful lochs all the way up the line from Loch Lomond to the open sea at Oban, including Loch Awe, Loch Long and Loch Etive.
The real adventure begins when you roam free of the main roads and venture out onto stunning leisure cycling routes, gravel biking routes, National Cycle Network Routes, kayak trails, walking trails or ferry routes to the Hebridean islands.
As you pedal or paddle along, you'll be in awe of the ever-changing landscapes from rolling hillscapes, to vast coastlines, and hidden in-land forests to scenic canals, and everything in-between.
Scotland's adventure coast is here and waiting, so get on your bike and go explore it.
