Staffa

Scotland's Island Coast

*** PLEASE NOTE ***

Boat landings at Staffa’s jetty have been cancelled until Spring 2025 when the National Trust for Scotland will improve and replace the island's infrastructure.

Given the increasing number of visitors, the conservation organisation plans to widen the jetty on the island and replace a key staircase to ease congestion.

The charity's improvement work is being done outside of the seabird breeding season when visitor numbers to the island are at their quietest.

This little island looks like it may be from a different planet.

Staffa is designated as a National Nature Reserve, home to black guillemots, fulmars, puffins and the magical Fingal’s Cave.

Follow in the footsteps of Queen Victoria, J M W Turner, Sir Walter Scott and William Wordsworth to see the famous hexagonal rock columns formed millions of years ago by volcanic eruptions.

Listen to the astonishing acoustics of Fingal’s Cave, which inspired Mendelssohn to compose his Hebrides Overture.

Escape the every day and enjoy a puffin-spotting picnic on the island's top in summer.
